Cabaret Drop Dead is a show by a group of clowns that reveal human vulnerability, absence of mind and exaltation with their acts. They generously offer a break from everyday stress and banality to the public. They see cabaret as a place for researching and discovering themselves and their hidden traits.
A cabaret of diverse clown acts is moderated by the flamboyant MC Vedran, hosting eccentrics like Srečko (Lucky), a magician, nostalgic about Yugoslavia, the country that fell apart in his youth, Ifigenia, an animator of traditional Alpine style songs, Linga Ling, an unhinged teacher trying to elicit a love song from her audience and Aleksander who is always happy to show his personal evolution of dance. Did we mention the Swan Lake in synchronised swimming style? It’s a must-see. You can also expect Beckett’s play by students of the last year of acting school and the Narcoleptic Choir! Without a well-trained six-pack it will be hard to sustain this drop-dead funny adventure. You better start practising right away.
A group of professional clown actors decided to establish a clown cabaret Drop dead a few years ago, to research and develop contemporary clown in all dimensions and connect with adult audience. They also formalised their activities later under umbrella of Association for Contemporary Art of Clowning.
They choose life over traditional circus. Contemporary clowns break down the fourth wall and enter among the people with their frolics. Through their naive and direct addressing of everyday topics they address the participant that got of his job attire and remembered he is a human being. Contemporary clown co-stars, seasoned with own life experience. Their clown characters select them, they are entities with an independent will. They like to put mask on the real and carry it on their nose – glowing and red.

There are only three important themes – birth, death and love. The show addresses all of them.
Clown Wisdom
We are rather vulnerable when expressing emotions, even if this happens through humour. The performers know how to create closeness with the participants but also a symbolic distance that guards both sides. The red nose represent the magical border of safe intimacy.

The funny action on stage suddenly catapulted me into an emotional state. In tears and laughter I also realised I am crying because I am sad and this drop dead humour relaxes me and helps me to clear out. Cathartic!
