Nada Žgank is presenting her selection of photographs of local and international artists, working in the genres of burlesque, cabaret and queer that she captured on Slovenian stages in her rich photographer career. One of the main thematic focuses of the exhibition will be photographs of shows, workshops and stage events that took place under the umbrella of Emanat Institute and City of Women festival, where these genres were developed by choreographer and artistic director Maja Delak and producer and curator Sabina Potočki.
Photographer Nada Žgank is closely following the performative arts for almost two decades, her photography includes also the field of contemporary world music and jazz, identity-related cultural practices and social/political activism. As photographer and co-creator she collaborates with many art organisations (Emanat, Maska, Bunker, Federacija, Mladinsko Theatre, ŠKUC Theatre, Prešernovo Theatre Kranj) and festivals (City of Women, Mladi levi, Exodos, Gibanica, Ljubljana Jazz Festival, Cerkno Jazz Festival). She is the recipient of Ksenija Hribar Award for art photography in the field of contemporary dance (2017). Her photographs were published in most of Slovenian media and in specialised foreign publications on performative arts, she also had several solo and group exhibitions.
